Sanitary workers from 22 wards in the city protested today seeking various demands including COVID testing and promised relief fund.
Coimbatore: Urging to conduct COVID testing for over 5000 Sanitary workers working across all 100 wards in the Coimbatore Corporation, around 500 sanitary workers of Adi Tamilar Union of SanitaryWorkers' Association staged an agitation in the city, today.
Their demands included: Provide quality PPE equipment to sanitary workers, PCR medical examination for all sanitary workers, issuance of double salary, implementation of insurance scheme, as announced by the government.
Demanding the above pleas, they staged a one-day strike today. They urged the government to intervene in the matter at the earliest.
More than 500 sanitary workers participated in the strike, which affected the sanitary works of various parts in the city.
