IAF Fly past: Coimbatore ESI Corona warriors disperse after waiting for 30 mins

Coimbatore: ESI hospital doctors and nurses dispersed back to their duties after waiting for the Indian Airforce fly past for 30 minutes. In honour of medical personnel serving in the war against Coronavirus, it was announced that fighter jets would pay respect to hospitals on behalf of the Indian Air Force.

They waited for the airforce to fly over the hospital in respect of their services in fighting COVID-19. It was expected that two C-130 fighter jets would fly past to honour the ESI Hospital doctors and staff in Coimbatore from the Sulur Air Force Base. The list published by the Indian Air Force listed Sulur Airforce, following which reporters thronged the hospital.

More than 50 doctors and nurses were waiting at the hospital premises, including Dean Dr. Nirmala. After waiting for more than half an hour, they dispersed back to their duties . The lack of a formal announcement by the Air Force caused this confusion.

Speaking to reporters later, ESI Medical College and Hospital Dean Dr Nirmala said that 250 Covid patients from Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris who were treated at the ESI Hospital had recovered. She said patients were given nutritious food and they were capable to accept more patients. She added that six people are being treated at ESI Hospital currently and said that 3 more people had tested positive in Coimbatore.

She further added that there was no disappointment as the fighter jets didn't turn up for honouring the hospital and said will continue to work with the same determination.
