The Nilgiris: 40 lorry drivers who returned from Koyambedu in Chennai have been isolated in the Nilgiris, on Sunday.
As Koyambedu market has become the hotspot for the spread of COVIDinfection, 40 lorry drivers who returned from Koyambedu market to Ooty to load vegetables have been identified and isolated in the Nilgiris District. Among the 40 drivers, as few presented with fever, they were taken to Ooty government hospital for COVID testing.
According to officials, the lorry drivers who went to the Chennai Koyambedu market and returned to Ooty to pickup vegetables have been traced and tested for coronavirus. They have been advised to self-quarantine themselves in their homes. Officials said they are being monitored regularly.
So far, Nilgiris has recorded 9 COVID positive cases, notably all have recovered and discharged.
