Coimbatore: Distribution of relief to victims of wildlife attack were organised today in Valparai. Valparai in Coimbatore district is home to a varied species of wildlife including elephant, tiger, leopard, bear and bison. Due to summer, many of these animals venture outside into residential and estates in search of food and water.
As a result, human and wildlife conflicts has become a never ending battle in Valparai area. Several people have lost their lives in human animal conflict, andcompensations on behalf of the Forest Department and State are been given to the victims' families.
Accordingly, Ponnammal from Sekkalmudai, who had been attacked by a gaur, was provided with Rs. 25,000. Kabir, another victim was given Rs 2000 as compensation by the forest department in the presence of MLA Kasthuri Vasu, for damages to his house by a wild elephant at Solaiyar estate.
MLA Kasturi Vasu, Co-operative Bank Chairman V. Ameedu, City Secretary Mayil Ganesan, Municipal Manager Forest Department Sabari Arogiaaraj, Sheikh Omar, K.Sankar and many others were present at the event.
