According to forest personnel, the deceased Ayyasamy (55) was working as daily wage labour in a farm in Veerapandi near Thadagam. Reports state that the deceased could have been trampled by an elephant when he was at his farm near Veerapandi, this morning.
His mortal remains were collected by the forest officials and sent to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for post mortem. An immediate compensation of Rs. 50,000 was given to the family of Ayyasamy.
