Coimbatore: As the TN Cabinet has approved the extension of the lockdown until May 17, 2020. A new list of relaxations and changes for the extended lockdown period has been announced the government.

Relaxations and changes
The lockdown has been extended, with the new guidelines in effect from May 4,2020 to May 17, 2020.
No changes in the lockdown norms in containment areas.
Shops selling essential items can remain open from 6 AM to 5 PM.
Hotels can provide only parcels between 6 AM to 9 PM.
Construction works at all government and public sectororganisations and road works will be permitted to commence work.
IT companies in Chennai will be permitted to function with 10% of employees.
Other than Chennai all other Rural Town Panchayat areas will be permitted to operate the factories in the area with 50% employees.
All self skilled workers like plumbers, electricians, AC mechanics and carpenters can function after obtaining due permission from their respective District Collectors.
Aides and house maids offering special assistance to the differently abled, elderly and ailing people can begin functioning after obtaining due permission from the District Collector.
Printing presses can commence operations.
Central and State government offices will be permitted to operate with 33% employees.
Home appliance shops can remain functional between 11 AM to 5 PM.
Mobile phone shops, computer shops, home appliance shops, electric motor shops and opticians can remain open from 11 AM to 5 PM.
Industrial estates in the rural and urban areas can begin functioning with 50 % workers.
Textile companies in the Industrial estates are not permitted to operate.
Spinning mills in the rural areas can operate with 50% workers.
Separate shops excluding those in the Municipal and Corporation malls and commercial complexes can function from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Other than Chennai, industries outside the Municipality and Corporation areas are permitted to function with 50% employees (minimum of 20 people) in TN.
The lockdown norms still remain intact for certain services. Until further notice from the government, these will remain unchanged.
Schools, colleges, training institutes, research centers and all educational institutions will remain closed.
People gathering in places of religious worship and all other religious gatherings remain restricted.
Marriages will have to uphold the current restrictions.
Public use of airplanes, trains and buses will remain restricted.
Taxis, autos and cycle rickshaws cannot function.
Metro trains and interstate bus services will remain non- functional.
People movement between states remains closed.
Funerals should not involve more than 20 people.
