In the notice, they said, "Due to the COVID-19 lockdown children and youngsters fly kites as a means to entertain themselves. However the kites are sometimes cut off from the strings and they fall on the high and low voltage lines causing a short circuit thereby raising the danger of causing accidents."
It further said, "Power cuts have happened twice in the North Power distribution circle in Periyanaickenpalayam and P.G. Pudur Pirivu offices due to kites. Power cuts happened on April 27 and April 30. As a result of this, hospitals, essential services and houses cannot enjoy uninterrupted supply of electricity."
They therefore requested, To avoid causing power cuts people are requested to refrain from flying kites", said the notice from TANGEDCO, Coimbatore North Power Distribution Circle.
