Coimbatore: The death of an elephant under mysterious circumstance in Anaimalai tiger reserve has raised an alarm. The elephant was found dead in the Muthumudi Tea Estate belonging to the Mudis Group in Valparai, on Saturday.

A team of forest department workers led by the Valparai Forest Ranger, Senthil Kumar arrived at the location immediately and inspected the carcass of the elephant. Following this, the Forest Department's Anamalai Tiger reserve Doctor Sukumar conducted an autopsy.
The forest department are conducting a probe into the incident, ans found that the elephant had several bruise marks on its body. A detailed forensic examination of the internal organs of the elephant will reveal the reason for the death of the elephant.
Preliminary probe revealed that the elephant is a female and 25 years of age. The female elephant had reportedly migrated from Kerala to Valparai.
