Tirupur: Four employees from Valparai Municipality were arrested today for possessing 16 litres of illegal liquor.
Tirupur: Four employees from Valparai Municipality were arrested today for possessing 16 litres of illegal liquor.
The Mangalam Police officials were involved in vehicle checks at Mangalam, near Palladam in Tirupur District, on Saturday.They intercepted a Maruti Swift car and inspected. The police found Nilavembu Kashayam powder and 16 litres of illegal alcohol hid inside the car.
All the four people in the car were arrested by the Mangalam police who are investigating the issue.
During inspection, they found that the four arrested men were employees of the Valparai Municipality. They were Saravanan Jothi, Selvaraj, Maniukandan and Arun.
The arrested men had allegedly travelled to buy Nilavembu Kashayam powder, however, on the way back they came across a place where illegal alcohol was sold. So, they had stopped by and bought 16 litres of illegal liquor in plastic bags.
Following this, the police arrested the four men and seized the car.
