In this situation, on behalf of the North Constituency MLA P.R.G. Arun Kumar and former 48th Council ward member Prabhakaran, relief supplies were distributed for 5,500 people, on Saturday.
Each family were distributed five kilos of rice, pulses, salt, cooking oil, 22 different grocery items, 10 eggs, bananas, watermelon and food packets.
Similarly, relief supplies were provided to more than 150 sanitation workers in Selvapuram area by a grocery store Ganesh Stores and the Selvapuram Traders Association.
The event was presided over by the Tamil Nadu Traders Association's District Secretary Soundararajan. Police Assistant Commissioner, Cedric Immanuvel and Inspector Sivakumar took part as special invitees.
They distributed 10 kgs of rice, a kg of salt, pulses, oil and grocery items worth Rs.1,000.
