The spread of COVID-19 has been increasing day by day in the country, especially cases in Tamil Nadu is seeing an unsual spike in the last two days. Though Coimbatore has not reported by new positive cases for the past five days, the District Administration is keen on tightening travel between each district.
Due to strict implementation of the COVID preventive measures, Coimbatore has moved from red zone (high alert zone) to orange zone, told the Collector.
Briefing on this, the Collector told, "In Coimbatore, we have taken 5,000 COVID-19, so far. Out of the total 141 patients who had been admitted in the hospital for COVID-19, only seven people are still under treatment. Two patients who recovered were discharged, today."
Discussing the measures taken regarding the reopening of industries, he said, "Under the guidance of the Central and State governments industries might be reopened after May 3, in the rural areas. People entering Coimbatore from other districts will be isolated for 14 days", he informed.
