Coimbatore: In order to combat the blood shortage in the blood bank at the Coimbatore government hospital, the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) organised a blood donation camp on May Day observed today.
Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, volunteers and blood donors have been unable to reach out and donate blood which has resulted in blood shortage.
To replenish the blood stock, the AIDWA conducted a blood donation camp today with the special motive of 'donate blood save lives'.
The blood donation camp was conducted in association with the Coimbatore GH in the Avarampalayam areamnMany women and social activists took part in the blood donation drive.
The drive was coordinated by the AIDWA District Secretary Radhika, Treasurer Jothimani, Pankajavalli and Maragatham.
A similar drive was held at Karamadai and the AIDWA State wing members Rajalakshmi, Mehabunissa and Jeevamani took part in the drive.
A total of 100 units of blood was collected in the drive -- 60 units at Avarampalayam and 40 units from Karamadai.
