Coimbatore: Wet grinder manufacturers are facing huge difficulties due to lockdown and only if the Government helps the industry with concessions , it can be revived, stated COWMA president Soundarakumar. The association held a press meet today in their office at Papanaickenpalayam and apprised the press about the damages that the wet grinder manufacturing industry has been facing due to COVID-19 lockdown.

Speaking to the press Soundarakumar said, "Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the wet grinder manufacturers have been facing a lot of difficulties. Restarting the industry right after the lockdown is also not possible. Only with the provision of interest offers, interest waivers and subsidy, the industry can revive itself."

He further said, "Banks should take action to waive off interests for three months and to waive off interests fully. There are more than 600 wet grinder manufacturers and over 3,000 employees involved in this industry, directly. Indirectly, over 40,000 labourers are dependent on this industry."

"Post lockdown the government must provide capital investment as subsidy on the basis of turn over to the wet grinder manufacturers. We have paid the labourers with salaries for March and April in spite of lack of income." Soundarakumar requested the government to take action to protect the livelihood of the 40,000 families dependent on this industry.
