Tirupur: Following Kerala’s model to promote social distancing, Tirupur District Administration has asked it’s people to use umbrellas while venturing out to keep atleast one meter distance from each other.
In a short video released in social media, District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan has asked people to follow the method post the complete lockdown announced by the State.
“People would be going out after tomorrow once the complete lockdown ends. While going out, if you use umbrellas, we can save ourselves and also create a model for other others to follow,” he said.
Notably, Tirupur has recorded 112 COVID-19 positive cases, so far.
The idea was first introduced in Kerala’s Thanneermukkom Grama Panchayat of Alppuzha, which is one of the COVID-19 hotspots in Kerala. The Kerala State Government is also on the verge of distributing 10,000 umbrellas to it’s residents.
