Coimbatore: Many organisations and NGOs have come forward to help Kamalathal (85), the octogenarian who provides idli for one rupee and is famous all over Tamil Nadu.
Kamalathal is known for her benevolence not just in Tamilnadu but all over the country. At a time when all the world is stunned due to the COVID-19 crisis, the 85-year-old Paati is busy as usual, serving the needy.
She provides food to approximately 400 people, both from her locale and people from other places on a daily basis.
Recently, Kamalathal had reported of the hike in prices due to COVID lockdown.
Urad dal and fried gram that were sold for Rs.100, are now sold for Rs.150 and green chillies that were sold for Rs.150 has now gone up to Rs.200, she told.
"In spite of a change in the prices of pulses and fried gram and other essentials, I still manages to provide food for the same price", told the octogenarian who on works on a.humanitarian motive to provide food to the needy.
Adding to the list of people and organisations who have come forward to help Kamalathal, city-based Nalaram trust has donated 50 kg of rice and Rs. 10,000 cash on Monday.
The rice bags and cash was handed over to her by Founder of Nalaram trust, SP Anbarasan.
It may be recalled that MK Stalin, President of DMK had a video call with her and enquired if she requires any help.
Earlier, Hindusthan Scouts Association Primary Commissioner, Prasand Utthaman provided rice, pulses, oil and vegetables to Kamalathaal and said that he was ready to offer any help to her.
