Coimbatore: A joint team of Young Indians (Yi) Coimbatore and the Confederation of Indian Industry, (CII) Coimbatore Zone, as a part of their support to fight COVID -19, have developed and indigenously manufactured a Positive Pressure Covid-19 Testing Booth for Frontline Health Workers.
Coimbatore: A joint team of Young Indians (Yi) Coimbatore and the Confederation of Indian Industry, (CII) Coimbatore Zone, as a part of their support to fight COVID -19, have developed and indigenously manufactured a Positive Pressure Covid-19 Testing Booth for Frontline Health Workers.
The testing booths are designed to help with conducting the nasopharyngeal/ Oropharyngeal swab efficiently and quickly. These booths are also designed in such a way that they will protect the health care workers and minimize the use of PPE’s.
One of these testing booths was deployed successfully at the ESI Hospital Coimbatore, one of the designated hospitals to handle COVID -19 patients in Coimbatore district.
Dr. Nirmala, Dean of ESI Hospital Coimbatore has informed that the booth will be brought to use with immediate effect, for testing suspected COVID-19 cases.
"The booth is the first-of-its kind in the region with a positive pressure of 100Pa being maintained. The air supplied to the booth is also passed through a HEPA filter. It can also be transported and be deployed, wherever necessary.
It was developed keeping in mind the telephone booth model in South Korea that was extensively used for testing. The booth was developed and manufactured by the team with the support of VXL Systems and Effica Automation. There are plans to manufacture more such testing booths in the future to support the front line health workers", a release noted.
