4000 tested, 76 under treatment, 83 discharged in Coimbatore - District Collector

Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani distributed relief supplies worth Rs.1,000 to the sanitation workers at the ESI hospital on Sunday.

Addressing the media, the Collector informed that, "Out of the 141 people infected with COVID-19, 116 have recovered and have been discharged. So far, 4,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the district."

Further he said, "16 residential areas where the COVID19 patients were staying have been completely isolated. In a bid to prevent community spread, complete lockdown has been proposed in those areas. Arrangements have been made for the uninterrupted supply of essentials and travel for essential reasons has been facilitated. Police action will be taken on people who travel outside for non- essential reasons."

"Currently 76 COVID-19 patients are being treated at the ESI hospital. Patients from Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris are being treated here. 116 people from Coimbatore, 59 people from Tirupur and 8 people from the Nilgiris who received treatment at the ESI have recovered and been discharged. Many of the recovered patients have offered to donate their plasma for the treatment of other COVID-19 patients", informed Nirmala, Dean ESI Hospital.
