Tirupur: A private activated carbon manufacturing factory in Avinashipalayam Pudur within the Vattamalai village near Kangeyam which has been polluting the air is still functional during this lockdown time and causing several health issues, allege the residents.
The polluted black smoke emitted by the carbon factory has been causing a lot of problems to the farmers and the villagers, including breathing problems. The residents of whom a majority are farmers have complained regarding this to the revenue department for the past one year.

Defying the lockdown, the factory still functions with migrant labourers. The functioning of the factory has irked the people who fear of spread of the pandemic.

Thus, the people have approached the District Administration with a request to take a permanent decision to close down the factory and submitted a petition to the District Collector, regarding this.
