Coimbatore: Coming down heavily on the State for arresting Simplicity Founder D. Andrew Sam Raja Pandian for carrying news article about lack of food for PG doctors in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, MNM Chief Kamal Hassan on Friday urged the State to release Sam.
In a tweet, Kamal Hassan opined that it was like dictatorship on the part of the State for arresting someone who wrote about the issues faced by doctors.
“Do we get prison, if we point out facts about doctors not getting food and people not getting government benefits in Coimbatore? It is dictatorship to arrest journalists rather than correct the issues. Do not disable the fourth pillar. Release the arrested,” his tweet read.
Seconding his tweet, R. Mahendran, Vice President of the party said that the Government should try and mend the faults pointed out by the media.
“Democracy would not be fair without contribution from the media. Release the Founder of Simplicity,” said Mahendran, in his tweet.
