Coimbatore: A total of 35,605 people have been booked with cases for riding two-wheeler without wearing a helmet since lockdown by the Coimbatore City Police. As a result of the lockdown that has been enforced across the country to control the spread of the novel coronavirus, the public movement has been restricted and have been asked to stay in their homes but many continue to travel on the roads unnecessarily.
The Coimbatore City Police Department has filed cases against the unnecessary commuters on the road to control those who come out on the streets. Similarly, the traffic police are constantly booking the motorists for not wearing a helmet.
A total of 35,605 cases have been registered with 15,992 in the East Zone Traffic Border, 19,683 in the West Zone by the police for not wearing a helmet.
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mutharasu, under the direction of Police Commissioner Sumit Saran, Transport Police are intensifying the stringent action against people violating the rule.
