The Central and State governments have been undertaking many measures to control the spread of COVID-19. In spite of these measures, people like reporters who are out and about are at a risk of catching the infection.
In Mumbai, 54 reporters were tested positive for the COVID-19 infection. Following this, they were isolated and are being administered treatment.
In Chennai too 4 media persons were tested positive for the disease. Additionally, 30 more people who were in contact with them are suspected of having the infection. They too are to be placed in isolation.
This alarming trend has alerted the Coimbatore District Administration as well. With the cooperation of the Coimbatore Health Department and the Public Relations Department and under the orders of the District Collector reporters and media persons of various media houses are being subject to blood tests using the Rapid Test kits.
More than 200 test results have been announced already.
Led by the Health Department Assistant Director Rameshkumar, Dr. Joe Daniel and other doctors and nurses are conducting the tests for the media persons.
District Collector K. Rajamani and Revenue Officer Ramaduraimurugan inspected the testing that is being conducted.
