Coimbatore: The public is not allowed to come out of their homes except for buying essential requirements due to the lockdown. Upon information that the migrant workers are selling illegal tobacco products at hiked prices violating the lockdown, on the orders of Superintendent of Police, Sujit Kumar of Coimbatore, on the advice of Deputy Superintendent of Police Karumathampatti, Balamurugan, Inspector Shanmugam, Sub Inspector Aravindraj, policemen Mahendran, Prakashraj and Yuvraj were on patrol.

Kupparao and Sigallal from Jalore district of Rajasthan were arrested near the Somanur BSNL office for allegedly selling banned goods at Bhavani Agencies and Ramdev Agencies near Karumathampatti Main Road. Tobacco and Cool Lip worth ₹50 thousand were seized. A case has been registered against them.
The operation took place upon receiving information that migrant workers have been operating a grocery store in the Somanur area, under the Karumathampatti police station were selling banned tobacco products like gutka and pan masala. The police inspected the place and seized banned tobacco products worth Rs. 50,000 and registered a case against the offenders.
