Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani today met with the reporters after distributing relief to migrant workers and said that 3 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Pollachi and two in Sirumugai in Coimbatore district yesterday.
District Collector Rajamani distributed essential items to 600 other state workers in Sivananda colony area in Coimbatore along with the Child Welfare Trust, Revenue Department and Police.
In an interview with reporters afterwards, District Collector K. Rajamani said “Corona prevention works were in full swing. He said, of the 127 people affected by a coronavirus in the Coimbatore district, 36 have recovered. He said that three new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Pollachi area and 2 in Sirumugai for which the health department is conducting investigations to find the cause of infection.”
He said that “18 areas were isolated in the Coimbatore district and that people should cooperate as the second phase of the curfew was essential for the district. The district administration has managed to provide food and shelter facilities to around 1,00,000 workers in the district with the help of volunteers and private companies and added that the help of these volunteers are required until the curfew ends.”
