Coimbatore: A woman from Valparai who gave birth a couple of days back, has been tested positive for COVID-19. The woman, the new born and her aunt have been shifted to Coimbatore ESI hospital on Saturday night.
According to reports, two days ago, a differently-abled woman from Valparai was admitted to Pollachi GH for delivery. She delivered to a healthy child and was discharged the next day from the hospital.
As a precautionary measure, the woman's blood samples were collected for COVID test. While her results were awaited the hospital authorities discharged her.
As recently, one another 20-year-old pregnant woman was tested positive for COVID in Pollachi GH, the woman was denied to stay in the estate accomodation at Valparai.
Following which the newly delivered woman and her child stayed at her aunt's home in Valparai town. Meanwhile, the results of the woman arrived yesterday and to the shock of the doctors, she was tested positive.
Immediately arrangements were made to shift the woman, the new born and her aunt to Coimbatore ESI Hospital.
The incident has caused panic among the residents of Valparai. The neighbourhood where the woman was staying and the adjoining areas have been declared as containment zone. Fumigation works are underway.
