Coimbatore: Thousands of migrant workers from Orissa have pitched tents and live near the railway gate on Kamaraj Road near Singanallur.
A 26 year old pregnant woman among them got her labour pains yesterday and was waiting to get to the hospital. She was made to wait safely near the CPI office and a 108 ambulance was called for. Before the ambulance arrived author Auto Chandran arrived at the spot upon hearing about the pregnant woman. However, before any kind of rescue could be initiated, the woman went into her labour process.
When the 108 ambulance arrived, the public and the 108 ambulance workers together helped the woman deliver her child. She successfully delivered a male child.
Then the ambulance workers took the child and the mother safely to the Coimbatore GH and admitted them and both the mother and child are safe. This has given much joy to the public, Auto Chandran and the ambulance staff as what would have been a tragic scenario ended on a happy note.
