Coimbatore: Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology along with NeuNets Technology have introduced thermal screening for detecting people affected by novel coronavirus via CCTV camera and mobile camera. This technology was launched on Wednesday, April 15th by Minister S.P.Velumani at the Collector's office in Coimbatore. Coimbatore Collector K. Rajamani and Corporation Commissioner Sravan kumar Jatavath were also present.

While speaking about this technology, NeuNet's CEO Jay Keerthi said in places where more people congregate it would take more time to identify flu victims individually. This also poses a high risk for medical personnel. Therefore, China used CCTV thermal scanning and thermal scanning via mobile phone camera to detect people with higher body temperature in places where people gather more.
CCTV thermal scanning can be used to test the body temperature of 15 to 20 people per second. It can lead to detecting people with fever in crowded area. Also, a photo of that person can be taken and saved on the server. It will enable us to find the place where he lives and isolate others who were living with him. The mobile camera can test up to three people per second via thermal scanning technology. This technology works through artificial intelligence. This technology helps in very quickly contact tracing people diagnosed with corona flu. This technology was launched in Namakkal district last week.
During the first phase, the technology was launched at the District Collector`s office in Coimbatore. The next step is to implement it in areas where the population is highly concentrated.
Sheelan Thangavelu, Joint Secretary of the college added that they helped NeuNets Technology to develop this technology by providing them with the required technical assistance.
