Coimbatore: The widespread COVID-19 pandemic has caused the government to shut down regular functioning of the society. A lockdown has been imposed to keep the people at home thereby enabling social distancing which has been the primary tactic to control the spread of the disease.

Violators of the lockdown are being dealt with through a variety of punishments. However, people still continue to defy the lockdown norms and are seen out on the streets.
Today, a tea seller Azaruddin (27) was found selling tea near the vegetable market at Ukkadam, without maintaining social distancing. Similarly, Zakir Hussain (43) of the Bilal Estate area on the Ukkadam bypass road was also found selling tea without observing social distancing.
As a result of this, cases were filed on both of them by the Ukkadam police. They have been charged for violating the norms to prevention to contagious diseases and for the violation of curfew laws.
