Mobile coronavirus testing van launched in Ooty

The Nilgiris: A mobile blood sample testing van was launched in Ooty as a part of the corona prevention measures. In the Nilgiris, corona prevention measures have been intensified. The district has recorded a total 9 people with coronavirus infection who are receiving treatment at the ESI hospital in Coimbatore.

The district has recorded a total 9 people with coronavirus infection who are receiving treatment at the ESI hospital in Coimbatore.

The number of people who are under home quarantine has come down from over a thousand few days ago to 232 people now. 800 people from other states are being monitored for 14 days. The public who come out for buying essentials must maintain social distancing and wear masks at all times.

Even after these stringent measures, many people keep venturing out and the Nilgiris police and district administration have been booking cases and arresting people everyday for flouting the rules. To further cut down the movement of people just like the volunteer services and vegetable vans, the district administration today launched a mobile blood sample testing van for the public in the District Collectorate in Ooty. 

District Collector Innocent Divya inaugurated the van. Balusamy, Deputy Director of the Health Department, said, "The public who continuously have colds, coughs, and fever can get their blood samples tested for coronavirus infection from their homes and need not venture to the hospitals."
