38 new COVID-19 positive cases in TN; facilities to treat 1.5 lakh patients ready - Minister Vijayabaskar

Chennai: "With 38 new COVID-19 patients reported in Tamil Nadu, the count has surged to 1242, on Wednesday. So far, 118 patients have been successfully treated and discharged and overall 15 deaths have been reported in the State", informed State Health Minister Vijayabaskar at a press meet held in Chennai.

Briefing on the ongoing treatment and precautionary measures, the Minister apprised that Tamil Nadu has adequate stock of medicines like paracetamol, Hydroxychloroquine, IV fluids, respiratory equipments to treat the patients. 

"We are well-equipped to treat 1.5 lakh COVID-19 patients at any given time. From doctors to support staff, Tamil Nadu has highest number of doctors and testing centres", the Minister informed. 

He added that more people will be subjected to tests after test kits arrive in bulk. The Minister lauded the efforts of the Chief Minister for handling the crisis situation in the best way possible and extended his gratitude to all departments including healthcare, police, revenue, district administrations for their selfless dedication during this pandemic situation. 

"The government has made all neccessary arrangements to procure essentials and also has been meticulous in distributing relief materials to the under priviledged people" he noted. 

Hence, the Minister appealed to the people to stay indoors and follow all the preventive measures proposed by the government to annihilate the virus from our State.
