Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Police received a tip off that toddy sales was happening near Annur and had gone to the spot for inspection. The Prohibition and Excise wing of Coimbatore Police visited Aathikuttai near Annur to inspect the farm belonging to Nachimuthu to check for any toddy sales. While inspecting in the farm road, the police found country explosives (avuttukai) used to hunt down wild boars.

The police confiscated the bombs and while Senthil Kumar from the police department, put it down it unexpectedly slipped out of his hand and exploded. This injured Senthil Kumar and he suffered minor injuries. He was later admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Investigators arrested Nachimuthu, who had kept toddy for sale and for possession of country explosive to hunt wild boars. The police have arrested him and are currently investigating the case under sections including possession of illegal ammunition.
