Tirupur: All Islam Jamaat yesterday condemned publishing names of corona patients and demanded to provide certification for the same in a press meet today after the number of corona patients rose to 78 in Tirupur. A rumour is being spread that Muslims are the cause of corona spread in Tirupur, and despite asking the district administration to keep the identity of the victims a secret, a list with full details of the victims are being circulated online. We request the district administration and police to take appropriate action to stop this.”
It is to be noted that sharing patient details in media or social media is an offence and it was not just the Muslim names and street names that have been published. The recent 4 cases from RS Puram had all the details of the patients published in social media too.
