14 areas announced as zero-movement zones in Coimbatore District

Coimbatore: The number of covid-19 positive cases in Coimbatore has been increasing daily and over the last 5 days the total count has doubled. The District Administration’s pleas to the people of Coimbatore to maintain social distancing and staying indoors has been defied by many and it shows in the number of secondary contacts being tested positive for coronavirus in the city.

The District Administration’s pleas to the people of Coimbatore to maintain social distancing and staying indoors has been defied by many and it shows in the number of secondary contacts being tested positive for coronavirus in the city.

To bring this under complete control, the district administration under the leadership of the Collector K Rajamani has now announced “zero-movement zones” in the worst affected areas. 

The following 14 areas in the Coimbatore city and district come under this zero-movement zone:

1. Anaimalai

2. Pollachi North

3. Pollachi South

4. Annur

5. Mettupalayam

6. Madukkarai

7. Sundarapuram

8. Kuniyamuthur

9. Ukkadam

10. Poo Market

11. RS Puram

12. KK Pudur

13. Kavundampalayam

14. Cheranmanagar

The people residing in these areas are instructed to not leave their homes under any circumstance and venture out to buy even essentials. All essentials will be delivered at their doorstep by teams led by the district administration in those areas.

Furthermore the District Collector has ordered that all Coimbatoreans in other areas should wear masks at all times when venturing out for buying essentials.
