The doctors and healthcare workers are in the frontline of treating this highly contagious disease. They face high risk of the contagion infecting them and our worst fears of this came true today as two ESI Hospital doctors have been tested positive for coronavirus infection.
The two affected doctors, both male aged 26 and 27 were treating patients between April 2nd and April 6th, 2020. Soon after they started showing symptoms of ILI (influenza like illness) and they were tested yesterday. The results have come in today and both were declared positive.
The hospital administration in the ESI have told SimpliCity that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure the doctors will not get infected and at this current moment we are unsure of how they contracted the illness. We are working to trace contacts and also to ascertain more safety measures for the doctors who are treating patients. The two affected doctors are now being treated with utmost care in the ESI Hospital in Singanallur.”
With this Coimbatore’s total count of COVID-19 positive patients goes up to 121. The final bulletin for the day will be as usual reported later in the evening today.
