9 test positive for COVID-19 in Nilgiris

The Nilgiris: The count of patients tested positive has again increased yesterday as nine people have tested positive in the District.

The Nilgiris: The count of patients tested positive has again increased yesterday as nine people have tested positive in the District. 

The District administration has informed that “A total of 1,471 persons have been inspected for having visited various airports in the Nilgiris district. Of these, 1,190 individuals have been isolated at home for 28 days and have completed medical supervision.

Currently, only 281 people are under home quarantine. The medical examination of 8 people who visited particular places confirmed that 7 people had corona infection. They and their families are constantly being monitored. 30 persons belonging to a family of 8 persons who had gone to Delhi were tested at Coimbatore and Chennai. Of these, 2 members of the family have been diagnosed with corona disease and are being treated at the ESI Hospital in Coimbatore. Following this, 9 people in the Nilgiris district have been confirmed with coronavirus infection as of yesterday evening.”

District Collector Innocent Divya had once again stressed, ”The public is hereby requested by the district administration to maintain their health and avoid going outside. It is advised to avoid public places, cover your face while coughing with handkerchiefs and wash their hands with soap frequently.

The public is asked to keep themselves and their surroundings clean. Frequently touched spots like the door, latch and desk should be cleaned with a 1% hypochlorite fluid or 5% Lysol fluid. In addition, areas, where positive patients were present, have been declared as a containment zone. People in these areas are forbidden to walk outside.

Patient 4. Age 58, male, Main Bazaar, Kotagiri.

Patient 5. Age 46, male, Rajaji Nagar, Coonoor.

Patient 6. Aged 47, male. S. Kaikatty, Kotagiri.

Patient 7. Age 60, male, Main Bazaar, Kotagiri.

Patient 8. Age 19, male, Kanthal, Ooty.

Patient 9. Age 22, male, Main Bazaar, Kotagiri.
