Coimbatore: On behalf of the AIADMK, yesterday MLA Kasturi Vasu distributed free vegetables to the tea plantation workers who have been hit by the nationwide coronavirus lockdown also enforced in Valparai, Coimbatore district.
At a special event held at the Gandhi Statue Complex in Valparai to distribute free vegetable bags to 20,000 families in Valparai. The first phase was distributed to PPDCI Group Mutties, Thaimudi, Dhonimudi, Jegamudi, Muthuudi, Periya Karumalai group's Nadumalai, Karumalai, Vellamalai, Kanjamalai and Akkamalai tea estate plantation workers.
MLA Kasthuri Vasu, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Pavanraj. DMK trade union leader Valparai Ameedhu, City Secretary Mayil Ganesan, executives Salauddin, Pon Ganesh and Narasappan were among those who presided the event. Vegetables are being purchased in bulk by the municipality of Valparai and filled in bags. These vegetable bags will be delivered to all areas within a week.
