The Nilgiris: Burliar Panchayat of Coonoor today provided essential food items to the poor and tribal people who have been affected due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The residents of Kurumbadi, Vadugan Thottam and other villages in the area were provided with food and other relief materials by the panchayat.

More than 500 tribal people were provided with free rice, pulses and other essential relief supplies. The program coordinator and Burliar Panchayat Vice President Dheenadayalan said, "Until the lockdown is in place, the public will be provided with free supplies as an assistance for their livelihood."
This event was presided over by the Coonoor Panchayat Union President Sunitha Nehru and was led by the Burliar Panchayat President Susila assisted by Burliar Panchayat Secretary Senthil Kumar, Computer Engineer Alwin and others.
