Following this, the meat sellers associations met with the District Collector and reasoned with him that “Tomorrow being Easter and by sudden imposition of the order to ban the sale of meat will drastically affect the industry which is reeling under huge losses. If the already purchased stock is not sold, we will incur more losses and wastage.”
Coimbatore: The District Collector K Rajamani had announced earlier today that all meat shops will be closed until further notice. He said this while addressing the press today to update the developments in Coimbatore to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. Relaxing the orders, the District Collector has notified that meat shops will be permitted to be open till 1PM tomorrow.
He had earlier said that “The meat shops are hereby being ordered to be closed down until further notice. This move is taken to control the crowding in meat shops. This includes shops selling mutton, chicken, beef, pork and fish.”

Accepting their plea, the Coimbatore Collector has relaxed his order and given time until tomorrow afternoon 1PM to finish all sale of meat. The meat shops will be closed until further notice starting tomorrow 1PM, he noted.
