Chennai: According to State health department, 58 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State, on Saturday. And, 11 new cases have been reported in Coimbatore district. The total COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 969 and 97 in Coimbatore district.

"Presently, 86 positive patients are being treated at ESI Hospital in Coimbatore. Out of the 206 people who were linked with the positive patients, 26 patients were tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday", the Collector told, today.
The District Collector of Coimbatore has informed that one man from Kerala had died of COVID-19 at Chennai hospital located on Sathy road, here. Following his death, the doctors and the staff who treated the patient have been brought under quarantine.
With rising numbers everyday and the lockdown scheduled to end by Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a four-hour meet with the Chief Ministers on video conference today, to discuss on extending the lock down for further period.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy was also part of the discussion and speculations are rife that the lockdown period might be extended for further two more weeks until April, 30 in Tamil Nadu.
