Man dies in Coimbatore hospital due to COVID-19; hospital quarantined

The District Collector today while addressing the press announced that a man from Kerala had died in a Coimbatore hospital. This would be the first reported death due to coronavirus in Coimbatore.


The District Collector today while addressing the press announced that a man from Kerala had died in a Coimbatore hospital. This would be the first reported death due to coronavirus in Coimbatore.

The man from Kerala was admitted in Chennai Hospital located near GP Signal in Sathy Road, Ganapathy where he passed away today. He was earlier admitted in another hospital in Gandhipuram.

All 20 doctors and nurses of Chennai Hospital have been isolated and quarantined. Nasal swabs have been collected from the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers from the hospital and sent to further testing. Their tests results are not available yet.

Details like whether the patient belonged to Coimbatore or was a patient from Kerala is yet to be ascertained.
