Coimbatore: People with Corona Symptoms should use a dedicated 108 ambulance service that operates 24 hours a day said the Ambulance officials of the Health Department. People in three districts including Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris are asked to use the exclusive 108 ambulance service if they experience corona like symptoms.
Coimbatore: People with Corona Symptoms should use a dedicated 108 ambulance service that operates 24 hours a day said the Ambulance officials of the Health Department. People in three districts including Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris are asked to use the exclusive 108 ambulance service if they experience corona like symptoms.
There are already 39 such 108 ambulances in operation in the district and 14 of them are operating to shift patients with corona symptoms. These are located in major places including the Airport, Singanallur, Thondamuthur, Pollachi Government Hospital, Samathur and Valparai.
Similarly, the public can contact the 108 if necessary and visit the hospitals. Many times people due to lack of awareness waste time to transport patients to hospitals.
Selvam Muthu Kumar, Regional Manager of the 108 Ambulance Service, said, "Fourteen 108 ambulance services are functioning exclusively for Corona in the three districts - Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris. Likewise, these ambulance staffs are specialized in how to deal with people with corona symptoms."
He added, "Also, the ambulance service is operational at the Government Hospital in Coimbatore, to bring blood and mucus samples taken from Pollachi, Mettupalayam and Valparai government hospitals. The 108 ambulance service personnel have been trained to assist Corona affected people and the public should use the ambulance service instead of using private transport."
