Tirupur: CCTV footage of a daily-wage worker being killed has now emerged as 6 people have been arrested in the murder of a daily-wage worker who advised them not to drink alcohol.
Veera, a daily-wager who was working in the Tirupur Thennapalayam market, was found dead at the Plague Mariamman Temple where he was hacked by unidentified persons. Police upon investigation arrested 6 including Gowtham and Sanjay in connection with the murder.
Investigations revealed that the accused had enquired Veera on the availability of alcohol in Thennampalayam Market on 6th April which was a lockdown day. Veera had advised them against drinking. Enraged by this, the youth attacked him with the things they had in their hand.
After they hacked and left him, Veera had walked with brutal injuries and collapsed in the temple and died. Police investigated the incident and with the emergence of CCTV footage, have now arrested six people. At present CCTV camera in the Thennampalayam Market has recorded Gowtham and his friends chasing down Veera.
While these footages have helped in the investigation, it has also caused a stir that an innocent man was hacked to death just because he advised the attackers not to drink.
