Coimbatore: There are 21 wards in Valparai Municipality of Coimbatore District. It is currently under curfew. Despite the curfew, people have to come to Valparai to buy essential commodities such as vegetables, meat, groceries, milk and medicines from nearby. Social distancing is violated as a result of people buying goods in the stores.

This might lead to the spread of COVID-19. In order to avoid this, Municipal Commissioner Dr Pavanraj has set up a mobile vegetable van to supply 10 varieties of vegetables for Rs.100. These vehicles sell vegetables to people in over 50 tea plantations.

Also, privately held mobile fruit sales have been launched. Commissioner Dr Pavanaj said that this would help to avoid the crowding of people in Valparai.
