The Nilgiris: Vijay Makkal Iyakkam youth have been actively involved in ensuring that their areas are sanitised and disinfected to ensure safety after the lockdown was announced. More than 100 families live in the Anna Nagar area of the Emerald region near Ooty
In the face of the spread of the virus, a nationwide curfew is in force, and the youth of this village have setup a checkpoint at the entrance of the town to keep their villages clean and safe and by inspecting new people entering the village for symptoms of infection.
They are involved in spraying twice a day and by distributing Kabasura Kudineer, two days once to all the villagers. Moreover, the youth in the area are doing their best to help the people in need, not only in their rural areas but also in other areas where the public is unable to go out for buying essentials.
The activities carried out by the youngsters on behalf of the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam have been well received by the villagers in the area.
