The District Collector K. Rajamani inspected the food counters at the North Tahsildar's office and provided food and water to more than 300 destitute people. North Tahsildar Maheshkumar and Revenue Department officials were present for the inspection.
Coimbatore: The North Tahsildar's Office at Dr. Balasundaram Road, has been equipped with food counters that function between 10 AM and 7 PM everyday. This service has been open since March 25 and will continue until April 14 until which the lockdown has been announced.
During this period, the government has permitted shops selling essential items and medical shops to remain open. However all the other stores have to remain closed. This situation resulted in a lot of homeless and destitute people remaining hungry. Inorder to help them, the Revenue Department and the Disaster Management Department have set up food counters at the North Tahsildar's Office.
