Coimbatore: Due to the increase in the number of cases tested positive for COVID-19, the TN Health Department has been involved in various precautionary measures to keep the disease spread in check.

As a part of the measures, containment zones around the houses of patients who have been tested positive within a distance of five kilometers have been created. These containment areas are now being inspected door-to-door as per the health officials.
The area in KK Pudur was declared a containment zone earlier and 37,000 houses in the area were screened for the spread of COVID-19.
The Public Health Department and the Coimbatore Corporation have now joined hands and identified 21 areas within the Coimbatore Corporation as containment zones.
The identified containment zones include

2. Bharathi Nagar
3. Amman Nagar
4. Ukkadam GM nagar
5. Al ameen Colony
6. Salamath Nagar
7. Elahi Nagar
8. Kottaimedu
9. Rose garden
10. RS Puram
11. Poo market
12. Thiyagaraya Mill Road, Marakadai
13. Ramachandra road
14. Sundarapuram
15. Kuniyamuthur
16. Edayarpalayam E B colony
17. Kovai Garden
18. K K Pudur
19. Cheranmanagar
20. Vilankurichi
21. Madukkarai
Areas within these areas and surrounding areas of the positive COVID-19 patients, have been marked out and medical teams are ready to start the door-to-door screening process.
Speaking about this from the the Health Department, Ramesh Kumar said, "Areas within the five kilometre radius of a positive case will come under the radar. This examination will be conducted door to door. If people suffer from common cold and fever medicines will be prescribed. If anyone exhibits symptoms of COVID-19, they will be tested for the infection. These activities will be undertaken by the Corporation."
