Minister S.P. Velumani inaugurates new building at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital

Coimbatore: A new building constructed at the cost of Rs. 1 crore, at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) was inaugurated by the Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI S.P. Velumani, today.

The event was attended by the District Collector K. Rajamani, MLA's B.R.G. Arunkumar, Amman K. Lakshmanan, Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar, District Revenue Officer Ramaduraimurugan, Corporation Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramasamy, Government Medical College Dean Dr. A. Ashokan, Assistant onsite Medical Officer Ponmudiselvan and other government officials.

Post the event, the Minister said, "The CMCH does not cater to the needs of the people in Coimbatore alone. People from the neighbouring districts of Nilgiris, Tirupur and Erode visit the hospital, for their various ailments and get treated here. High quality care and treatment is offered and many treatments including kidney transplant, heart transplant and lung transplant are undertaken here."

"Approximately 4,000 to 5,000 people visit the hospital every day and 1,600 in-patients are treated every day. The new building constructed at a cost of R. 1 crore can accommodate the caretakers of the patients, who are admitted at the hospital. It will be the resting area for the caretakers and a place to rest at night", he informed.

"The building has a 160-bed facility for the caretakers", he said and further requested, "the people who make use of the facilities at the building are requested to provide their cooperation to the hospital management to maintain it neatly and hygienically."
