In spite of several warnings from police and district administration officials, some in the public have been venturing out of their homes for unnecessary reasons. The police have been filing cases and making arrests of those who are violating the curfew in order to restrict public movement.
In the last 24 hours, 119 cases have been registered and 125 persons have been arrested and 20 vehicles have been confiscated in the city.
Similarly, 460 cases were registered in the rural and suburbs of Coimbatore and 538 persons were arrested. 487 vehicles have been confiscated.
Thus a total of 663 people have been arrested yesterday and the number only seems to be increasing despite the many arrests the police are making.
