The SSJSM has been active in the COVID-19 awareness programme since the pandemic started nationally, in association with the Director of Public Health, Tamil Nadu Government, National Health Mission & the Health & Family welfare department.
Along with the government agencies, the SSJSM has taken the initiative of spreading awareness at all public places like Railway Stations, Bus stands, Malls, Schools and various institutions where the campaigns would have the maximum impact since these places are always crowded. The youngsters of the organization have also installed more than 200 banners across Coimbatore City and distributed more than 15,000 pamphlets, more than 100 litres of sanitizers, and have been successful in creating a good awareness.
As a step ahead, they identified nearly 1000 families (approximately 3000 people) and have been providing them with ration food relief kits with rice, dal, aata, suji, oil, fresh vegetables and basic masala's needed. These people have no public housing, no BPL/Ration card, and no predictable income. This is also being provided to the migrant workers stranded in and around Coimbatore city, who needed immediate support in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown.
With the lockdown in place for 21 days, identification of more vulnerable families is being undertaken to regularly provide them with ration food relief kit.
The organization thanked their sponsors and well wishers and said, "They have been very supportive during these days, where service to mankind was highly in demand and with more support, we would be expanding our support to a wider set of people."
