Du to the severe clamp down on the he liquor sales, now toddy sales has sprouted across the region despite the ban of sale of toddy in TN. Liquor aficionados are now thronging areas where toddy is sold early in the morning.
A liter of toddy is being sold at a hiked price of Rs. 200, up from Rs. 50 as there is no other liquor sale available.
The police patrols are continuing to monitor the sale. Police seized 22 liters of toddy which were kept for sale in Ramanathapuram, Nanjundapuram, Singanallur, Irugur and Chinniyampalayam. Police arrested three people and are conducting investigation as to who else is there in the network.
Similarly 68 litres were confiscated in the suburbs including Mettupalayam, Sirumugai, Annur, Kamanaickenpalayam and Thondamuthur. Police have arrested 9 and are conducting an investigation here too.
