Coimbatore: A mother elephant rescued her calf that fell into a drinking waterhole dug by the forest department in Mettupalayam forest.
Due to the prevailing drought in the Mettupalayam forest, the forest department have set up artificial drinking waterholes to quench the needs of the wildlife.
A group of seven elephants and a baby elephant had arrived in search of water nearby the waterhole yesterday evening. While the elephants were drinking water, a calf fell into the water tank. After that some elephants from the herd left while the mother and another elephant were circling the waterhole.
